Jesus had authority--He had the "power"--the strength--the "permission" from God the Father to carry out His ministry in the earth. Authority is the "permission" to carry out the will and purpose of God in the earth.

Mr 1:22* And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

Mr 1:27* And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.

Jesus taught, prophecied, preached the Gospel, cast out devils, healed the sick, lead His followers--did the ministry of the kingdom of God--with the permission--the "authority" of God the Father.

25* But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. 26* But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; 27* And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: 28* Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. (Matthew 20:25-28)

42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. 43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: 44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. 45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. (Mark 10:42-45)

Mr 13:34* For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.

34* For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. 35* Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: 36* Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. (Mark 13:34-36)

1* ¶ Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2* And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. (Luke 9:1-2)

4* (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5* Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6* And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. 7* ¶ Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's. 8* For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed: (2Corinthians 10:4-8)

Power (exhousia)

Jesus had "power" to do ministry--but He gave that power to us too!

Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)

(Luke 10:17-20)

12* But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13* Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:112-13)
